Really nice hotel great view of the cathedral, bar staff are wonderful especially Elea who couldn’t be more helpful. Great food comfy beds, a nice all round hotel

Amazing service from the bar staff elea great girl with a fantastic smile from start to finish looking forward to being hosted by her tomorrow evening couldn't of asked for anything else we ate having a table of 5 tomorrow evening so should be fun

We booked a short break and due to illness we had to cancel at the last minute. Having rearranged another date we had to cancel a second time as my husband was taken to hospital. The hotel manager once again rearranged our stay and finally we managed our visit. I cannot believe how incredibly sympathetic and helpful the manager ( Anthony Hickman) was. The privilege room was really lovely and the view from the window of the cathedral was just wonderful . I have read the reviews which commented on this hotel being “ a little tired” and true some areas could do with a little refurbishment. However this did not detract from the fact that everywhere is impeccably clean and the food and service exceptionally good. The welcome treats were a super surprise and the staff extremely helpful in every way….a special thank you for Magdalena on reception and Michael who was so charming at breakfast. We will certainly be visiting again and will recommend to our friends .

Excellent service of staff represented by Arthur and Asmita throughout our stay last night at the hotel. High professionalism in a friendly manner helped us have a great time. Special thanks to Eric as the best general manager! Nice place to come back to again!

Superb location, couldn’t fault that, right next to Winchester Cathedral and a few minutes walk from the shops, restaurants and pubs. Car park on site (chargeable at £15 a night) however it is a tight car park with not many spaces, so come with an alternative option during peak season. Check in was okay, receptionist could have been a bit more informative as did not tell us what time or where breakfast was or bar/restaurant opening times, came back later in the day and someone else gave us the information. Arthur in the bar was fab, very attentive and can tell he enjoys his job- an asset to your team. Rooms were clean, bed comfy, however the hotel and rooms are looking very tired now, and it could do with a refurb.

I’m so glad that you had an enjoyable time during your stay at The Mercure Hotel Winchester Wessex. We just changed all our bedroom carpet and curtains. We are now painting the last few bedrooms and then we will start with the public areas. First come, first served parking is available and when our carpark is full there is a public carpark across the road. We hope we can welcome you back to the property in the near future.
